Installing Kallithea on Debian 8

  • git clone git://
  • wget
  • ln -s Kallithea-0.2.2.tgz kallithea_0.2.2.orig.tar.gz
  • cd kallithea
  • DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck debuild

upgrade python-dulwich to unstable.

  • cd ..
  • sudo dpkg -i kallithea_0.2.2-1_all.deb


  • cd /var/lib/kallithea
  • sudo paster make-config Kallithea my.ini
  • edit my.ini as root.
    • change 'host =' to "host =", to allow the internet to access kallithea.
    • change 'port =' to "port = 80".
  • sudo mkdir repos
  • paster setup-db my.ini
    • The script will ask if you're OK blowing away the current database. say yes.
    • The script will ask for the absolute path to the repositories. use '/var/lib/kallithea/repos/'
    • The script will ask you for the admin username, password, and email.


You are now ready to use Kallithea. To run it simply change directories to /var/lib/kallithea, and run:

  • paster serve my.ini
